If you’ve lived in Dubai long enough, you’ve likely been exposed to all kinds of aesthetic interiors — minimalist cafés, gold-drenched lounges, garden-themed bistros. This city doesn’t play when it comes to design. But nothing, and I mean nothing, prepared me for the jaw-dropping, futuristic wonderland that is MYATA Platinum Lounge at City Walk — home to the world’s largest 3D-printed restaurant interior, and yes, officially recognised by Guinness World Records.
When I first heard about a restaurant made almost entirely from recycled plastic and designed to feel like a cave carved by nature itself, I knew I had to check it out. What I didn’t expect was how seamlessly culinary innovation and immersive design would come together to create an unforgettable dining experience.
Walking into the lounge felt like stepping into another realm. The entrance isn’t your typical restaurant doorway — it follows something called the “funnel principle,” which means you’re slowly guided through narrow, dimly lit corridors. It builds this quiet sense of curiosity until, suddenly, everything opens up into a wide, dramatic space that looks like something out of a dream.
All around me were these canyon-like walls, sculpted entirely from 3D-printed parts. It’s hard to believe, but they’ve used over 20,000 pieces made from recycled plastic to build the interiors — and it’s not just impressive, it’s beautiful. The space feels like a modern art installation and a natural cave at the same time. Soft lights glow through the textured walls, casting cool shadows across the room. It’s calm, mysterious, and incredibly unique — like I had somehow left the noise of Dubai behind and found a quiet, hidden sanctuary.
As I settled in, the food journey began.
I started with the salmon carpaccio, delicately dressed in truffle ponzu — light, fresh, and bursting with flavour. Then came the chicken skewers, served hot and perfectly grilled, juicy with just the right amount of spice.
Then for the mains, I couldn’t resist trying the miso cod topped with tomato salsa and avocado. The fish was buttery and soft, and the salsa added a zesty kick that balanced everything out. I also ordered the grilled octopus, which came with a hearty potato and tomato salad, some herby chimichurri, and a side of creamy guacamole. The mix of flavours was bold yet comforting, clearly influenced by Mexican-Californian traditions — and it worked beautifully.
To wrap up the meal, I went for dessert — a miso tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The tart had this amazing sweet-salty flavour that paired perfectly with the smooth, classic ice cream. A surprising combo, but it ended the night on a warm, satisfying note.
More than just a dining venue, MYATA Platinum redefines what it means to experience luxury. Beyond its culinary creativity, the space proudly champions sustainability, operating under a zero waste and closed loop philosophy. An advanced hydroponic system nestled between floors grows six varieties of mint and herbs, used fresh in every dish—a nod to both freshness and eco-consciousness. Every detail, from the interiors to the ingredients, feels meticulously curated, exuding intention, sophistication, and forward-thinking design.
